Listen again to the story of Elizabeth Clephane, writer of the hymn “Beneath the cross of Jesus”.
Elizabeth was born in 1830 and lived most of her short life in Melrose, Scotland, about 30 miles southeast of Edinburgh. She spent most of her money on charitable causes, and was known locally as “The Sunbeam.”
